Job description Emergency Medicine Opportunity in Michigan Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Full time Sault Ste. Marie is a vibrant waterfront community and the second-most populated city in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The community is also home to a public university and offers convenient access via interstate highways and a regional airport with daily flights to major hubs. Position Overview A Board Eligible or Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician is sought to join a community-based emergency department serving a regional population. Emergency Department Details * Modern emergency department renovated and expanded in 2017 * 18 treatment beds * Annual volume of approximately 16,000 visits * Solo physician coverage with advanced practice provider support from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily * Shift schedule: * 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. * 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. * Brief overlap between shifts to ensure safe and effective handoffs * Separate walk-in clinic located nearby, staffed by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. * Strong specialty support available, including psychiatry * Trauma team available and required to be on-site within 20 minutes Qualifications * MD or DO degree (U.S. medical degree or foreign equivalent) * Board eligible or board certified * Completion of a residency in: * Emergency Medicine, or * Family Medicine, or * Internal Medicine/Pediatrics * Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Michigan * Eligible for a Michigan Controlled Substance License Hospital Privileges * Privileges available at a regional medical center Compensation and Benefits * Highly competitive compensation plan * Comprehensive benefits package including: * Continuing medical education allowance * Paid time off (vacation, sick, CME, and personal days) * Health, pharmacy, dental, vision, and life insurance * Short-term and long-term disability coverage * Professional liability insurance with tail coverage * Relocation assistance * Retirement plans including 403(b) with employer contribution and 457(b) deferred compensation option
