Job description
A community hospital in Mt. Pleasant, MI is seeking a qualified Emergency Medicine Physician to provide locum tenens coverage. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a broad range of emergency conditions in a moderate-volume emergency department with strong hospital support.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM and 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
- Coverage needed 7 days per week
Facility & ED Details:
- Annual ED Volume: ~20,000 visits
- Average Daily Volume: 54 patients
- ED Beds: 18
- Trauma Designation: Provisional Level IV
- Admissions from ED: ~90% of total hospital admissions
- ED Admission Rate: ~8%
- Transfer Rate: ~2%
- EMR: Cerner
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency department patients of all acuity levels.
- Manage medical, surgical, and trauma presentations in a Level IV trauma setting.
- Perform emergency procedures consistent with training and experience.
- Coordinate care with consultants and inpatient teams as needed.
- Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR.
Requirements:
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with a minimum of 2+ years of emergency department experience
- Active Michigan medical license
- DEA registration
- BLS required
- ACLS and ATLS required
- PALS required for non-EM board-certified physicians
