Job description
We are seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to provide emergency department coverage in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. This opportunity is well suited for a board-certified Emergency Medicine or Family Practice physician with solid ER experience who is comfortable working in a community ED with moderate volume and limited trauma.
Position Details
- Setting: Hospital-Based Emergency Department
- Shift Schedule:
- 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- 7 days per week coverage
- Trauma Level: Provisional Level IV
Emergency Department Profile
- Average Patient Volume: 54 patients per day
- Annual ED Volume: ~20,000 visits
- Number of ED Beds: 18
- Admissions from ED: 90% of total hospital admissions
- ED Admission Rate: 8% of ED patients per day
- Transfer Rate: 2% of ED patients per day
- EMR: Cerner
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to adult and pediatric patients
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries
- Perform emergency procedures as indicated
- Stabilize trauma patients and arrange transfers when necessary
- Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and hospital leadership
- Document all patient encounters accurately and efficiently in Cerner
Requirements
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Practice with 2+ years of ER experience
- Active Michigan medical license
- DEA registration
- ATLS and PALS certifications required
- Clean NPDB history
- Provider must be local
