Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – Emergency Medicine in Mt. Pleasant, MI

Are you a dedicated Emergency Medicine physician seeking a flexible and rewarding opportunity? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Locum Physician to provide exceptional emergency care at a Level 4 Trauma Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. In this vital position, you will help bridge staffing gaps, ensuring continuous high-quality emergency services. You will work alongside a dedicated team, including full-time physicians and midlevel providers, in a busy ED with an annual volume of approximately 20,000 visits. Your expertise will support a range of clinical scenarios, from acute trauma to medical emergencies, with a focus on collaborative and efficient patient care.

Required Skills:
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license in Michigan or eligibility
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume ED independently
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to supervise midlevel providers and respond to hospital codes as needed

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Prior ED experience in a Level 4 trauma setting
  • Familiarity with hospital transfer protocols and paramedic supervision
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS, ATLS, and PALS

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • At least 2 years of emergency medicine practice, ideally in a hospital setting
  • Board Certified in Emergency Medicine

Other Requirements:
  • Commitment to a start date of March 1, 2026
  • Availability for varied shifts, including 8a-8p and 8p-8a, 7 days a week
  • Willingness to undergo credentialing (approximately 90 days)
  • Must clock in/out using DocTime; no timesheets accepted
  • Local or state medical license required; proprietary hospital credentials preferred
  • Coverage for orientation and training at $400/hour

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $400 per hour, with bonus rates for holidays and after-hours shifts.
