Locum Emergency Medicine Physician

Seeking a Float Pool of Locum Emergency Medicine providers to cover open PRN onsite shifts. There is no call requirement, and all work is performed onsite. Available shifts extend through June 2026, with specific open dates provided upon acceptance.

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift options:

  • 0600–1600

  • 0900–2100

  • 1400–0000

  • 2000–0600

• Multiple overnight and evening shifts currently available, primarily in February 2026

• Open PRN dates are distributed via email once accepted into the float pool

Clinical Volume & Support

• Approximate volume: 80 ED patients per day

• Physician workload averages 1.8 patients per hour

• APP coverage: 12 hours daily

• Full ED staffing with nursing and tech support

• 24/7 access to radiology and laboratory services

• EHR: Cerner

Scope of Practice & Required Skills

• Full-spectrum emergency medicine, including adult, pediatric, and geriatric care

• Required competencies include:

  • Newborn resuscitation

  • Suturing, I&D, fracture management

  • Airway and ventilation management (up to 24 hours)

  • Central and arterial lines

  • EKG interpretation

  • Arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis

  • Management of uncomplicated psychiatric presentations

  • Evaluation and treatment of acute medical and industrial-related conditions

Provider Requirements

• Board Certified only (no BE)

• Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine with 2+ years of recent ED experience

• Active Michigan license required at time of name clear (IMLC not accepted)

• Local providers only

• Clean background for expedited credentialing

• Required certifications:

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS

  • ATLS required for all non-ABEM/ABOEM providers

• NPDB self-query within 30 days required at presentation

Credentialing & Onboarding

• Reverse billing site; providers must clock in/out via DocTime

• Employee health requirements include current immunizations and TB screening

• Submission must include full contact details, DOB, availability for listed dates, and required documentation at name clear
