Locum Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunities in Iowa!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician to provide in-house emergency and inpatient coverage at a Critical Access Hospital. This role features low patient volume, 24-hour shifts with sleep-room accommodations, and a supportive care team. The position is ideal for physicians looking for a steady schedule in a small community setting.

Dates / Schedule

• Shift commitment: Minimum of 3 × 24-hour shifts per pay period

• Shift length: Primarily 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM); occasional 12-hour shifts

• On-call: In-house coverage (sleep room provided)

Open shifts requiring coverage:

• February 6 – February 7 (7a–7a)

• February 22 – February 23 (7a–7a)

• February 25 – February 28 (7a–7a)

• March 1 – March 2 (7a–7a)

• March 8 – March 9 (7a–7a)

• March 15 – March 16 (7a–7a)

• March 18 – March 21 (7a–7a)

• March 22 – March 23 (7a–7a)

• March 25 – March 28 (7a–7a)

• March 29 – March 30 (7a–7a)

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Provide emergency department coverage and inpatient care at a Critical Access Hospital

• Average 4 ED patients per day

• Average 4 inpatients daily (observation, acute, and swing-bed)

• Perform in-house coverage during shifts; no outreach responsibilities

• Work alongside 4 Advanced Practice Providers (no supervision required)

• Supported by 2 RNs and 1 CNA per provider

• Utilize TogetherCare (Epic) EMR

• Practice in a facility with 3 ED treatment rooms and 20 inpatient beds

• Access to full imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, and outpatient services

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified: ABEM or FP/IM with recent Emergency Medicine experience

• Active Iowa medical license (required)

• Clean malpractice and background history

• NPDB Self-Query (pulled within the past month at time of submission)
