Ongoing Emergency Medicine Locum-Open to Licensure- Overnights with Bayhealth in Delaware

Delaware | Multiple Freestanding EDs & Hospital Sites

Bayhealth is seeking Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physicians for ongoing (primarily) overnight locum coverage across multiple emergency departments in Delaware, including hospital-based and freestanding EDs.

This is a high-acuity, EPIC-based system with consistent needs and the opportunity to work across multiple sites each week.

Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Medicine
  

• Start Date: March / April forward

• Need: 2 FTE or approximately 20–30 shifts per month

• Minimum Commitment: 5 shifts per month

• Shift Coverage: Monday–Sunday (overnights only)

• EMR: EPIC

• Patient Population: All ages

Shift Times by Location

• Smyrna Freestanding ED: 7p–7a

• Route 9 Freestanding ED (Sussex): 7p–7a

• Kent Hospital ED: 9p–7a

• Sussex Hospital ED: 9p–7a

Physicians must be comfortable covering all four sites and may work at multiple locations during the same week.

Patient Volume (Approx.)

• Route 9: ~65/day

• Smyrna: ~54/day

• Kent: ~160/day

• Sussex: ~95–105/day

• Annual ED Volume Range: ~19,700 – 58,400

Overnight Support Staff

• Smyrna & Route 9: Solo physician coverage overnight

• Kent: Physician until 1am, APC until 7am

• Sussex: Physician until midnight, APC until 4am

Requirements

• Board Certified Emergency Medicine only (ABEM or AOBEM)

• Comfortable with overnight solo coverage

• Able to complete charts within 72 hours

• Willing to submit availability 3 months in advance

• Flu vaccine required (COVID not required)

Licensure

• IMLC candidates accepted

• Licensing candidates considered
