Locum Emergency Medicine Physician
Seeking a Locum Emergency Medicine physician to provide coverage for a recruitment gap. This opportunity offers flexible day, evening, and overnight shifts with multiple open dates extending from January through February 2026.
Practice Setting

Emergency Department at a Level III Trauma Center

Annual ED volume: ~40,000 visits

42 ED beds
-
Average patient volume: ~110 patients per day

EMR: Cerner
Staffing & Support
-
Full nursing support
-
12 hours of APP coverage daily
-
Fast Track available and staffed by APPs (approximately 15% of ED volume)

Locum physician will supervise APPs and residents

Hospitalists manage admission orders
-
ED staff does not respond to house codes
Clinical Scope

Broad Emergency Medicine coverage including adult, pediatric, and family medicine cases

Required skills and procedures include:
-
Airway and ventilation management
-
Newborn resuscitation
-
Suturing and incision & drainage
-
Management of non-displaced fractures
-
Central and arterial line placement
-
EKG interpretation
-
Arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis

Psychiatric evaluation of uncomplicated adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients

Evaluation and management of acute medical and trauma-related conditions

Patient Flow & Acuity

Approximately 70% of hospital admissions originate from the ED

About 22% of ED patients are admitted daily

Less than 1% of ED patients are transferred
