General SummaryProvides emergency care to patients.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Clinical responsibilities: ? Provides emergency care to patients. Refers patients to appropriate community medical resources for follow up care. ? Consults with WYH medical staff physicians and APPs providing on-call coverage as appropriate. ? Completes charting in a timely manner, compliant with departmental, WYH, and WSH rules and regulations. ? Works with ED APPs in a timely and collaborative fashion to help supervise care of their patients. ? Works scheduled shifts, including shifts starting and ending at varying times of day. ? Provides medical command and direction to Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support units. Participates in audits of these activities as needed. ? Provides outstanding service to all patients; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. ? Continuously works to practice up-to-date emergency medicine, including developing new skills through CME or faculty development as required by the department.Administrative responsibilities: ? Assists with developing and maintaining departmental quality improvement initiatives. ? Performs a variety of administrative duties such as recommending policy and program changes, coordinating patient care and educational activities, and assisting with the development of innovative projects. ? Participates in research and other scholarly activities pursuant with departmental requirements. ? Fulfills requirements to maintain current Pennsylvania medical license, DEA prescribing, and ABEM/ABOEM board certification. ? Abides by departmental STO policy.Common Expectations:Professional responsibilities: ? Participates in WYH Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested. Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of WYH and the WYH Medical Staff. ? Communicates with departmental leadership in a timely fashion including response to email. ? Notifies departmental leadership in timely fashion when unable to work a scheduled shift. ? Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.Educational responsibilities: ?
