**New providers will need to arrive a day early before their first shift to ensure everything is in place**
Emergency privileges are possible if your provider has an active ND license.
Qualifications
• Board Certification: Emergency Medicine (preferred) or Family Medicine with emergency medicine experience. Preferably in rural or critical access facilities.
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted North Dakota medical license
• Certifications: Current ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and DEA registration
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine
• Clinical Skills: Proficient in the following procedures:
o Intubation and advanced airway management
o Chest tube placement and central line insertion
o Procedural sedation
o Adult and pediatric resuscitation
o Orthopedic emergencies
o Leading trauma resuscitations and directing multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities
• Provide single physician coverage for patients across the lifespan in the emergency department of a Level IV Trauma Center that sees approximately 11,000 patients per year.
• Ability to perform advanced procedures, including intubation, central line placement, chest tubes, and procedural sedation.
• Lead resuscitation efforts for adult and pediatric patients.
• Conduct thorough medical assessments, formulate differential diagnoses, and develop treatment plans based on patient condition and diagnostic results.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (laboratory, radiology, EKG) to support clinical decision-making.
• Lead and coordinate trauma resuscitations in alignment with Level IV Trauma Center standards, ensuring timely assessment, stabilization, documentation, and collaboration with EMS and hospital staff to maintain a high standard of trauma care.
• Determine appropriate patient disposition to include admissions, transfers, or discharges, ensuring complete documentation and follow-up instructions.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including EMTALA obligations for patient transfers, stabilization, and documentation of inbound and outbound transfer
• Accurately and promptly document all patient care and procedures using EPIC EMR.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, nursing teams, and consultants to optimize patient outcomes and flow through the department.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and state/federal regulations.
• Maintain professional standards consistent with the policies and procedures.
Professional Expectations
• Demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, professionalism, and adherence to evidence-based practice.
• Exhibit effective communication and teamwork with nursing, administrative, and ancillary staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and institutional policies.
• Participate in hospital educational activities as requested.
• Provide services in alignment with the mission and values to ensure safe, respectful, and efficient emergency care.
