Position Overview

A busy HCA-affiliated Level II Trauma Center in Florida is seeking Emergency Medicine physicians for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This high-acuity, well-resourced ED features strong specialty support, robust APP staffing, and no inpatient code or consult responsibilities.

Schedule

  • Full-time and part-time locum blocks available

  • 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts depending on site

  • Day, swing, and night shifts

  • No call required

  • Monthly scheduling flexibility and block opportunities

Emergency Department Details

  • ED Volume:

    • 61,000 annual visits in the Main ED

    • 16,000 annual visits in the Peds ED

  • Department Size:

    • 42-bed ED, including:

      • 5 Fast Track beds

      • 5 Monitored beds

  • Trauma Level: Level II

  • Admissions: 26% admit rate

  • Coverage:

    • 70 hours/day of physician coverage (Main + Peds ED combined)

    • 60 hours/day of APP coverage

  • Patient Population: Adults + Pediatrics

Support & Resources

  • 24/7 Hospitalist & Intensivist support

  • Comprehensive Stroke Center with bi-plane imaging

  • Interventional cardiac cath capabilities

  • Code Ice therapeutic hypothermia program

  • Multiple dedicated ED Glidescopes and ultrasound machines

  • No floor codes or inpatient consults – ED only

  • Streamlined workflows and experienced nursing staff

Technology

  • EMR: Meditech

  • Documentation: Pdoc

  • Voice Dictation: Dragon

Requirements

  • MD/DO

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM)

    • FP/IM with strong ED experience may be considered depending on site

  • Active Florida license (or willingness to obtain)

  • DEA, ACLS, PALS

  • Clean background preferred

  • Ability to manage high-acuity and high-volume ED cases
