Position Overview:

Inhospital Physicians (IHP) is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) to serve as the Emergency Department Medical Director for two community hospitals in Hemet and Menifee, CA. This is a hybrid role combining clinical coverage (12-hour ED shifts) with administrative oversight of both programs.

The Medical Director will lead a team of clinicians, collaborate with hospital leadership, oversee quality improvement initiatives, and ensure the delivery of high-performance, patient-centered emergency care.

Key Highlights:

• 12-Hour ED Shifts + Protected Administrative Time

• Director Stipend on top of competitive hourly rate

• APP Support at both sites

• Census: ~2 patients per hour

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical leadership and direction for ED operations at both sites

• Drive quality improvement, throughput, and patient experience initiatives

• Oversee scheduling, provider onboarding, and clinical documentation standards

• Serve as liaison between IHP and hospital administration

• Lead regular team meetings and performance reviews

• Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal standards

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care during scheduled ED shifts

• Triage and manage a full range of emergency cases

• Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

• Participate in ED resuscitations, procedures, and stabilization

• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EMR

Requirements:

• MD or DO with ABEM board certification

• Prior leadership or medical director experience preferred

• Must have or be eligible for a California medical license

• Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills
