Position Overview:
Inhospital Physicians (IHP) is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) to serve as the Emergency Department Medical Director for two community hospitals in Hemet and Menifee, CA. This is a hybrid role combining clinical coverage (12-hour ED shifts) with administrative oversight of both programs.
The Medical Director will lead a team of clinicians, collaborate with hospital leadership, oversee quality improvement initiatives, and ensure the delivery of high-performance, patient-centered emergency care.

Malpractice and Tail Insurance Provided

Census: ~2 patients per hour
Administrative Responsibilities:

Provide clinical leadership and direction for ED operations at both sites

Drive quality improvement, throughput, and patient experience initiatives

Oversee scheduling, provider onboarding, and clinical documentation standards

Serve as liaison between IHP and hospital administration

Lead regular team meetings and performance reviews

Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal standards
Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care during scheduled ED shifts
-
Triage and manage a full range of emergency cases

Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Participate in ED resuscitations, procedures, and stabilization
-
Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EMR
Requirements:

MD or DO with ABEM board certification
-
Prior leadership or medical director experience preferred

Must have or be eligible for a California medical license

Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills

Physical Demands:
This physician/APP role requires stamina in fast-paced healthcare: prolonged standing/walking (8-12 hrs/shift); rapid emergency movement (sprints, crowds); lifting/carrying 25-50 lbs equipment; pushing/pulling 100 lbs (beds/carts) with aid; frequent bending/stooping/kneeling for care; constant reaching/fine motor skills (suturing/IVs); occasional climbing/balancing; tolerating stressors (temps, noise, fluids, hazards) during irregular shifts/on-call/infection risks—accommodations for disabilities; varies by setting (clinic/ER).
Qualifications
