Position Profile:

- 5 bed unit
- Physician coverage: 24 hours daily with 12, 24, 36 hour shift options
- Physician Dedicated Call Room
- PEARL EMR
- Affiliated with UTMB – Angleton Danbury, Clear Lake, League City, & Galveston
- BC/BE EM, FP, IM, or General Surgery
- ACLS and BLS certification
- Full-time (120 hrs./mo.), Part-time (60 hrs./mo.) & PRN options
- Independent Contractor 1099 Status
UTMB Correctional Managed Care (UTMB-CMC), in collaboration with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), delivers compassionate, high-quality healthcare to incarcerated individuals across Texas. As part of one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive correctional healthcare systems, the Beto Unit provides a broad range of services including ambulatory medical, dental, and mental health care. Medical services are available 24/7 and supported by a 46-bed assisted living infirmary with two respiratory isolation rooms. The unit also offers specialized services such as physical therapy, brace and limb clinic, chronic care management, telemedicine, and Digital Medical Services (DMS). All services are housed on a single level for efficient, accessible care, including CPAP-accommodating housing.
UTMB-CMC serves approximately 120,000 individuals in over 83 facilities statewide, supported by nearly 3,000 employees. The system includes ambulatory clinics in prisons and state jails, infirmaries in 13 facilities, regional medical centers, sub-specialty clinics, and a unique correctional hospital on UTMB’s Galveston campus.
