Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages in an inpatient emergency department setting
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage urgent and emergent conditions in alignment with standard emergency medicine practices
Coordinate care with hospitalists, nursing staff, and other specialists as needed
Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the EMR system (Meditech)
Maintain a high standard of patient safety, privacy, and care quality
Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up
Collaborate with 2 RNs and 1 CNA per shift to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care
Manage average patient volume of 10,000 ER visits annually, with 1โ2 inpatient admissions daily (hospitalist on duty)
No procedural requirements: bone marrow aspirations or advanced procedures are not required
Uphold all facility protocols, state regulations, and medical ethics standards
Qualifications
Board Certification:
Emergency Medicine preferred
Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with relevant ED experience accepted
State Licensure:
Minnesota license or IMLC with LOQ in hand โ required
Certifications:
ATLS preferred
CALS with trauma experience accepted
BLS/ACLS โ as per standard hospital policy
Malpractice History: Clean record preferred
Availability: Must confirm shift availability at time of name clear
Must include departure city and any travel/dietary exceptions at time of submission
Working Hours
Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
Monthly Schedule: 8โ10 shifts per month
Shift Times: Typically, 7:00 AM โ 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM โ 7:00 AM (may vary slightly based on facility need)
