o Site Medical Director
· What are expectations for orientation? (ie, shadow day? EMR training?)
o 2 day shadow and orientation.
Candidate Parameters
· Any specific fellowships/ certifications/ procedures/ competencies we are looking for?
o Must be ABEM. Accredited chest pain and stroke center.
· Experience level?
o Will take new grad.
Credentialing questions:
· Will emergency privileges be an option?
o Yes depending on applicant. (Clean File)
Hospital/unit questions
· What’s the patient population?
o Rural Tennessee.
· Trauma center? Types of cases? Acuity?
o Not a trauma center.
· What does the support staff look like?
o Nurses and Techs
· How will follow up cases be handled? (when applicable- inpatient or outpatient)
o Depends on case.
Specialty Specific Questions:
Emergency Medicine
· What are the shift times?
o Morning, Mid, and Night 10 hour shifts.
· Is call involved?
o NO
· What procedures are required?
o Standard ED procedures
· What does the support staff include?
o Nurses and Techs
- What are the most common cases the locum will see?
- Standard Emergency Medicine visits
- How often are the locums called back on site if on call?
- No call
· How many EM physicians are typically on staff per shift?
o 1-2 plus APP’s
