We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Emergency Medicine physician to deliver exceptional care at our busy ED facilities, including Holzer Meigs, Gallipolis, and Jackson. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a collaborative setting that values your expertise.
Your role will involve covering night shifts and weekend rotations, with a commitment to at least 5 shifts per month—ideally 8-10—to ensure seamless patient care. Start date is as soon as credentialed, with a typical onboarding timeline of 45-60 days. Shifts are 12 hours long, from 8 PM to 8 AM or 8 AM to 8 PM, providing flexibility and work-life balance.

Your role will involve covering night shifts and weekend rotations, with a commitment to at least 5 shifts per month—ideally 8-10—to ensure seamless patient care. Start date is as soon as credentialed, with a typical onboarding timeline of 45-60 days. Shifts are 12 hours long, from 8 PM to 8 AM or 8 AM to 8 PM, providing flexibility and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality emergency medical care across various shifts
- Manage a patient volume of approximately 15-20 cases per shift
- Supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Write orders for admissions and collaborate with consultants including radiology, cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, urology, and hematology/oncology
- Ensure efficient patient flow, with about 17% of ED patients admitted and less than 7% transferred daily
- Deliver care in a fast-paced environment utilizing All Scripts/Paragon EMR systems
Required Skills:
- MD or DO licensed to practice in Ohio
- Board-certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Proven experience in emergency settings with proficiency managing acute cases
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
- Ability to oversee and collaborate with APPs effectively
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with hospital admits and transfers
- Previous work in rural or community hospital environments
- Knowledge of trauma protocols (even if none at this facility)
- Familiarity with All Scripts/Paragon EMR systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency medicine practice or equivalent experience
- Active Ohio medical license and DEA registration
Other Requirements:
- Availability for at least 5, preferably 8-10 shifts per month
- Must be able to start promptly after credentialing
- No overtime; shifts are fixed at 12 hours
- All travel arrangements to be booked through OVP
- Physician placement fee capped between $18,000 and $20,000
- No hospital trauma designation
