Bayonne Hospital is seeking an accomplished Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as Emergency Department Medical Director. This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-acuity community ED while shaping clinical quality, team performance, and patient outcomes.

Qualifications
-
MD/DO in Emergency Medicine
-
ABEM certified or eligible
-
Prior leadership or director-level experience preferred
-
Ability to obtain a New Jersey medical license

Physical Demands:
This physician/APP role requires stamina in fast-paced healthcare: prolonged standing/walking (8-12 hrs/shift); rapid emergency movement (sprints, crowds); lifting/carrying 25-50 lbs equipment; pushing/pulling 100 lbs (beds/carts) with aid; frequent bending/stooping/kneeling for care; constant reaching/fine motor skills (suturing/IVs); occasional climbing/balancing; tolerating stressors (temps, noise, fluids, hazards) during irregular shifts/on-call/infection risks—accommodations for disabilities; varies by setting (clinic/ER).
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership: Provide direct patient care while leading a team of emergency medicine physicians, midlevels, and support staff in delivering high-quality, efficient emergency care.
Administrative Oversight: Manage departmental operations, including staffing, budgeting, performance metrics, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Quality Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve patient care, reduce wait times, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards in the Emergency Department.
Collaboration with Hospital Leadership: Work closely with hospital administration, nursing, and other medical directors to align ED operations with hospital-wide goals and strategies.
Professional Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning and development by mentoring and training physicians, residents, and midlevel providers.
Qualifications
Board-certified in Emergency Medicine
Proven experience as an APD or Medical Director is highly encouraged to apply
Strong communication, management, and decision-making skills
Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with administrative duties
Passion for improving patient care and fostering team development
