Job description
Seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity at an acute care hospital in Schenectady, NY. This role offers flexible, scheduled shifts with no on-call requirement. As a physician, you will provide high-quality emergency care, manage a diverse range of cases, and work in a collaborative environment with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The position is set to start on July 7, 2025.
Job Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive assessments, including patient histories, physical exams, and necessary diagnostics to evaluate medical conditions.
Stabilization and Treatment: Stabilize critically ill or injured patients, providing life-saving treatments, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric life support (PALS).
Triage and Prioritization: Efficiently manage patient flow in the emergency department, triaging patients based on the urgency and severity of their conditions.
Collaborate with Medical Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Document Care: Complete accurate and timely patient documentation using the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
Perform Emergency Procedures: Administer and perform emergency procedures as required (e.g., suturing, intubation, wound care).
Patient and Family Education: Provide clear explanations to patients and families about their conditions, treatment options, and necessary follow-up care.
Adhere to Clinical Protocols: Follow established emergency medicine protocols and guidelines to provide safe and effective care.
Supervise and Teach (if applicable): Mentor and supervise residents or other healthcare staff, depending on the facility’s educational program.
Qualifications
Active New York State Medical License (Required)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification (Required)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification (Preferred but not specified)
Working Hours
Shift Type: 12-hour shifts (Day, Evening, Night rotations)
Example Shift Times:
Sunday: 7a–7p, 9a–7:30p, 7p–7a, 7:30p–4:30a
Monday: 8a–7p, 6a–2p, 2p–11p, 7p–7a, 10p–6:30a
Tuesday–Saturday: Rotating shifts including 7a–7p, 9a–7:30p, 7p–7a, and 7:30p–6a
No on-call requirement, full scheduled shifts only
