Remote Position (FL Only) This is a remote position incumbents, who reside in Florida only, may work at home. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Lee Health location.

Summary

Plans, directs, and organizes the activities of the coding department staff. Supervises and plans the process improvement activities while overseeing the daily operations consistent with department policies and procedures. Coding supervisor ensures accuracy, consistency and efficiency in relation to code assignment for reimbursement and reporting purposes. The coding supervisor performs quality reviews for coding staff in order to validate code and reimbursement assignments. Additional responsibilities include monitoring governmental and insurance industry information for correct code assignments, training coding staff, providing educational seminars for health care staff, communicating with physicians and health care professionals to clarify supportive documentation for code assignment and working with the billing department to ensure appropriate reimbursement for codes assignment. Coding supervisor may also be asked to compile data reports for meetings, serve on a variety of committees and attend professional meetings. Coding Supervisor may be responsible for direct reports. Will conduct performance appraisals for staff directly supervised.
