**Emergency Medicine Opening in ME** * Located in Caribou, ME - Bangor 200m * Full-time (can accommodate part-time) * ER physicians develop their own schedules, generally working three 12-hour shifts one week, and four the next * See wide variety of cases, however, major trauma, cardiac, neurosurgery and other critical cases are transported to a tertiary care center * The physicians and nursing staff are specially trained in emergency medicine * The department has one trauma room and 11 exam rooms * Although patients are seen in order of severity of illness, a PA or Nurse Practitioner may see patients with less urgent needs * ER physicians are employees of the hospital and are paid on an hourly basis, negotiable based on experience * The hospital will pay a portion of the health insurance for the physician and will pay the full amount of malpractice insurance * Six weeks for vacation, CME, sick and holiday time to be used on an annual basis * CME of up to $2,500 per year * Relocation assistance * Education loan repayment is paid in six-month increments and is typically spread out over the life of the initial agreement. The majority of our ER patients are elderly with cardiac and respiratory complaints comprising a good portion of our visits, along with the expected primary care and emergent care visits. Our largest patient transfers consist of psychiatric, trauma, neurosurgical, and emergency cardiac situations. Medical Center utilizes the services of a fixed-wing air ambulance service with a 40-minute in-air time to Bangor, Maine, location of Eastern Maine Medical Center, the nearest Level 1 Trauma Center and Cardiac Cath Lab.
