Call: None
Altru Health System is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Adult Intensivist for a one-week locum tenens assignment providing ICU coverage primarily on night shifts.
This opportunity offers a manageable patient census, no call requirement, and no requirement to remain in-house during the shift. An on-site sleeping room is also available for provider convenience.
Assignment Highlights- December 14–20, 2026
- Primarily night-shift coverage
- 5:00 PM–8:00 AM
- 4 × 15-hour shifts | 60 hours/week
- No call
- No requirement to stay in-house
- On-site sleeping room available
- ICU-only practice
- Average intensivist census of fewer than 13 patients
- Open ICU model with some patients managed by hospitalists
- 226-bed hospital
- 16-bed ICU
- Additional 8 PCU overflow beds
- Dedicated ICU nursing staff
- Respiratory therapy support
- No APP coverage during evening shifts
- Procedure volume varies based on patient complexity
Candidates must be comfortable performing:
- Bronchoscopy
- Central line placement
- Thoracentesis
- Chest tube placement
- Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine
- Comfortable independently managing adult ICU patients
- Proficient in required ICU procedures
