Position Overview:
Rapides Regional Medical Center, a 300-bed acute care facility in Alexandria, Louisiana, is seeking a full-time Critical Care Intensivist to join our established ICU team. This position offers a block schedule, strong APP support, and full subspecialty backup in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. Employed by Inhospital Physicians, the role includes competitive compensation, full benefits, and J1 visa sponsorship.

Physical Demands:
This physician/APP role requires stamina in fast-paced healthcare: prolonged standing/walking (8-12 hrs/shift); rapid emergency movement (sprints, crowds); lifting/carrying 25-50 lbs equipment; pushing/pulling 100 lbs (beds/carts) with aid; frequent bending/stooping/kneeling for care; constant reaching/fine motor skills (suturing/IVs); occasional climbing/balancing; tolerating stressors (temps, noise, fluids, hazards) during irregular shifts/on-call/infection risks—accommodations for disabilities; varies by setting (clinic/ER).
Job Responsibilities
Provide inpatient critical care coverage for the 34-bed ICU, including medical and surgical patients
Perform and manage bedside procedures: central and arterial lines, ventilator management, and intubations
Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, and subspecialists to coordinate patient care
Supervise and support advanced practice providers (APPs) during shifts
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning
Respond to emergencies and rapid responses within the ICU
Document clinical care in Meditech EMR system using integrated dictation tools
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards
Contribute to a team-oriented environment focused on excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine
Proficient in ICU-level procedures
Eligible for Louisiana medical license
