Critical Care Opportunity in Bakersfield, California

Join a well-supported intensivist team serving a respected community hospital system in California's Central Valley. This full-time Critical Care position offers flexible scheduling, strong midlevel support, and visa sponsorship options. Whether you're an early-career physician or a seasoned intensivist, this is a rewarding opportunity to step into a stable, shift-based role with no call.


Practice Overview

  • You'll join a team of five physicians and two advanced practice providers across two local ICUs
  • Current ICU mix is 90% medical and 10% surgical; no cardiac, thoracic, or pediatric cases
  • Each shift staffed by a physician and NP, with plans to increase physician coverage
  • EMR is Cerner, with transition to Epic expected within a year


Schedule

  • Shift-based model: 18 shifts/month for full-time
  • Choose day (6 AM-6 PM) or nocturnist (6 PM-6 AM) role
  • Scheduling options include 7-on/7-off or 4-on/4-off
  • No call; true time off when off shift


Compensation & Benefits

  • Employed compensation between $250,000-$350,000 (for 1.0 FTE)
  • Sign-on bonus and relocation support negotiable
  • Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement
  • H1B and J1 visa support available with in-house immigration attorney


Candidate Requirements

  • Open to new grads and experienced intensivists; preference for early-career physicians
  • Must be board-eligible or board-certified in Critical Care
  • Comfortable managing 15-25 adult ICU patients per shift
  • Visa candidates encouraged to apply
