Critical Care Physician (Intensivist)

MedStar Medical Group has an opening for a Critical Care Physician (Intensivist) to join our team!

Job Duties: provision of direct patient care for medical patients in the Critical Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit (“ICU”), and the Coronary Care Unit (“CCU”) and will respond to calls from the Emergency Department (“ED”), Subacute Care Center (“Subacute”), Telemetry Unit (“TU”), Chest Pain Evaluation Center, and other areas in the hospital complex as requested for consultation. The Physician is also responsible for: Immediate response to Code Blues; Documenting medical services according to standards of practice and rules and regulations of MSMH; Performance of invasive procedures and intervention as the clinical situation requires; Consultation with attending and consulting physicians, nurses, and staff; Adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols established and approved for Critical Care Services; Collaboration with hospital staff and attending physicians in the delivery of care in a timely and efficient manner; For billing and medical record purposes, legibly documenting all services rendered within a twenty-four hour period; Keeping abreast of current medical knowledge in critical care medicine; Participation in education programs with physicians, nurses and staff; and serve on Hospital and Medical Staff committees according to the Bylaws, rules and regulations of the Hospital and Medical Staff.

Position requires MD degree or foreign equivalent plus completion of a three-year ABIM-recognized Internal Medicine residency program; two-year ABIM-recognized Critical Care fellowship program; valid Maryland Medical License; Board Certification, American Board of Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine; and Board Certification or Eligibility, American Board of Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine.
