The Primary Care Physician provides direct patient care to detainees in US Government custody, including adults, children, and families. This role includes conducting routine exams, diagnostic testing, prescribing treatments, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. You’ll also serve as a clinical consultant and mentor to medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of care in a culturally diverse environment.
Job Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
Prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide clinical oversight and consultation to healthcare staff
Educate patients and families on health conditions and care options
Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records
Collaborate with advanced practitioners and multidisciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and federal healthcare regulations
Qualifications
Unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration
Board certification (preferred) or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics
CPR/BLS certification (AHA or equivalent)
1+ year of experience in a primary care setting (detention/correctional experience preferred)
Proficiency in English; Spanish preferred
U.S. citizenship or legal work authorization
Working Hours
Onsite at ICE detention facility
Schedule includes direct patient care and collaborative duties
