Our Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a BC/BE CARDIOLOGIST to care for inpatients in our CCU and Step-Down Unit.
The Medical Center's Department of Cardiology includes 36 Cardiovascular physicians working together to achieve the best possible patient access, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. We are perennially recognized as one of the top Heart and Heart Surgery programs in the nation. Individuals who enjoy direct patient care in a group practice setting, teaching medical students, medicine residents and cardiology fellows, and participating in clinical research programs to enhance quality and safety of patient care thrive here.
The dedicated Inpatient Cardiology CCU service provides care 7 am to 7 pm, working one week on and one week off . From 7 pm to 7 am, take only phone calls for transfers. Inpatients are managed overnight by on-call Fellows who are supported by the Consultative Cardiologist on call. There is a separate Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiology Transplant inpatient service.
You will work closely with Hospitalists and/or Intensivists. The lower level acuity cardiology patients are managed by Hosp Med teams, who consult with the CCU Attending Cardiologist informally. Formal consults are handles by the subspecialists; Interventional, EP or Heart Failure.
The CCU Attending Cardiologist would staff the inpatient team with Students, Residents, Fellows, for admissions. You can do all bedside procedures you are comfortable with There is support from Interventional Cardiology for all invasive procedures that the CCU Attending Cardiologist is uncomfortable with; right heart (Swan Ganz), IABP, temporary pacemakers, etc.
They currently are performing 250-300 CABG; Transplant and LVAD patients are cared for by the Advanced Heart Failure service, not by the CCU Attending.
Opportunities exist for teaching medical Residents and Cardiology Fellows , leadership development, and participation in clinical research.
