Job Posting: General Cardiologist - Preferred

Pacemakers and ICDs

Avita Health System is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Cardiologist to join our established and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who is proficient in the management of complex cardiac conditions, with a strong focus on the implantation and management of pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs).

Location

Various locations within the Avita Health System service area (Galion, Bucyrus, Ontario, Ohio).

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be a board-certified or board-eligible General Cardiologist responsible for providing comprehensive cardiac care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes, but is not limited to, diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, and long-term management of cardiovascular diseases. A critical component of this role is the expertise in device implantation and follow-up, specifically for single- and dual-chamber pacemakers, and single- and dual-chamber ICDs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultative, diagnostic, and therapeutic services for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions.
  • Perform and manage the full scope of device implantations:
  • Single and dual-chamber pacemakers.
  • Single and dual-chamber ICDs.
  • Conduct comprehensive device follow-up, interrogation, and reprogramming.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress testing, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) (TEE skills desirable but not mandatory).
  • Interpret EKG, Holter, and event monitor data.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency coverage.
  • Collaborate effectively with primary care physicians, cardiac surgeons, and other specialists.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Certification and demonstrated proficiency in the implantation and management of pacemakers and ICDs.
  • Possession of or eligibility for an unrestricted Ohio medical license.

Preferred:

  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Certification in echocardiography (NBE) and/or nuclear cardiology (CBNC).
  • Experience practicing within a community health system.
