Position: Executive Medical Director (EMD), Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI)
An exceptional leadership opportunity is available for a highly experienced cardiovascular physician to serve as the Executive Medical Director (EMD) of the Heart & Vascular Institute. This role provides the chance to shape a regional, destination-level cardiovascular program within a dynamic and expanding health system serving the Mid-America Region.
This leader will guide the strategic vision for cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, electrophysiology, imaging, and preventive cardiology—while maintaining clinical practice in their specialty.
Role Overview:
- Lead the strategic direction, growth, and performance of cardiovascular services across the Mid-America Region, including multiple hospitals and clinic locations.
- Partner in a dyad leadership model to ensure excellence in clinical outcomes, physician engagement, operational performance, and financial stewardship.
- Foster alignment and collaboration among cardiovascular physicians across campuses to develop a unified, integrated service line.
- Drive program development in structural heart, electrophysiology, vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, cardiovascular imaging, and multidisciplinary care models.
- Advance research, innovation, and education by expanding clinical trial access, pursuing academic and industry partnerships, and elevating the Institute’s national reputation.
- Dedicate approximately 50% of professional time to leadership and administrative responsibilities, with the remainder spent maintaining an active clinical practice.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Board-certified physician in a cardiovascular specialty (cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, etc.)
- Extensive clinical experience with demonstrated leadership success in cardiovascular program development or service-line leadership
- Ability to build consensus, lead multidisciplinary teams, and work effectively across organizational boundaries
- Strong strategic vision with a track record of advancing quality, growth, integration, and innovation
- Eligible for Kansas medical licensure
Candidate Qualifications:
- Ten (10+) years of oncology or related subspecialty clinical practice experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience (medical director, service line chief, program leader, etc.)
- Proven ability to drive service line growth, multidisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement
- Visionary mindset with strong communication, strategic, and team-building skills
- MD or DO with eligibility for Kansas medical licensure
