Charleston Area Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Director of Echocardiography to lead our dynamic imaging team and help shape the future of non-invasive cardiac diagnostics.

Located in the beautiful capital city of West Virginia, the Heart and Vascular Center at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is one of the largest and most comprehensive heart programs in the region, offering a full spectrum of cardiac and vascular services. This center is known for its exceptional care and advanced technology, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of heart and vascular conditions.

Position Summary:

As the Medical Director of Echocardiography, you will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership to our echocardiography lab. This role blends administrative oversight with clinical excellence, supporting both inpatient and outpatient imaging services. The ideal candidate will lead quality initiatives, ensure adherence to ASE standards, foster research and innovation, and mentor the next generation of cardiologists.

Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) was established in 1972 and is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed regional tertiary referral center made up of seven hospitals: General Hospital, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, Plateau Medical Center, Teays Valley Hospital, Women and Children’s Hospital, and Charleston Surgical Hospital. In addition to the hospitals, CAMC is comprised of the Institute for Academic Medicine and the CAMC Foundation. More than 1,500 providers are members of the medical staff of CAMC, which is also West Virginia's premiere medical teaching facility, hosting, on any given day, more than 1,000 students in programs leading to degrees or certifications in health professions.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations of the echocardiography laboratory.
Ensure quality and compliance with IAC/ASE standards.
Drive initiatives for clinical excellence, safety, and workflow optimization.
Collaborate with cardiology, radiology, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Provide echocardiographic interpretation (TTE, TEE, stress echo, contrast).
Support training programs, CME, and echocardiography education.
Lead research efforts and contribute to scholarly output, if applicable.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Board-certified in Cardiology with fellowship training in Echocardiography.
Current (or eligible) state medical license.
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in echocardiography.
Expertise in structural TEE.  
Prior leadership or administrative experience preferred.
Expertise in advanced imaging techniques (strain, 3D, contrast) desirable.
Strong commitment to quality improvement and clinical innovation.
