Job Description

Last Update: 2/20/24
General Cardiology is currently down 3.0 FTE physicians. General cardiology is responsible for IP rounding, night & weekend call coverage, as well as, weekend rounding, cardiovascular diagnostic reads for the system (echo, stress, monitors, TEEs, EKGs), outreach clinic coverage in Somerset, Cambridge, and Coshocton and the ambulatory clinic at main campus. The reduction in FTEs by 4.0 creates a gap in coverage of critical services and increases stressors on the team, staff and patients.

This request is for 1 Inpatient Non-Invasive Cardiologist-may have to work some clinic if the need arises.
IP non-invasive cardiology service is Monday 7:00am – Friday 5:00pm. Weekday night call will alternate with HVG physician sharing IP coverage for the week with the locum typically responsible for 3 overnight calls per week. HVG physician will assume weekend call starting at 5:00pm on Fridays and any holiday coverage required. Additional skills required include echo and stress echo interpretation, nuclear stress test interpretation, TEE/Cardioversions.
OP Clinic Coverage is Monday – Friday 8:00am through 5:00pm at our Cambridge outreach location providing ambulatory clinic patient visits and coverage of the cardiac diagnostic lab for stress testing.

The General Cardiology team employs APPs who will be available as a resource, in addition to the physicians. The APP team does not support the locum physician on the IP service.

The general cardiology team consists of 7.0 FTE general cardiologists as well interventional, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and vascular surgery.
