Internal Medicine - Cardiology Physician Opportunity - Baton Rouge, LA Position OverviewOchsner Clinic Foundation is seeking a permanent full-time Cardiologist specializing in Non-Invasive Cardiology for their Baton Rouge, Louisiana locations. This is a permanent placement position offering a long-term commitment with a blend of clinic and inpatient responsibilities. The successful candidate will build and manage a patient panel while contributing to the broader cardiology team through hospital rotations, consultations, and multidisciplinary care coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Responsibilities (5 days per week, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM):
On-site patient visits with established panel
Review diagnostic studies ordered at clinic locations
Follow-up communication with patients
Care coordination with imaging and testing teams
Weekly clinic reading day (reassigned during hospital service weeks)
Hospital Responsibilities (rotation every 5-6 weeks):
Inpatient care and rounding
Cardiology consultations
Participation in multidisciplinary rounds
Communication with referring providers
Reading all hospital diagnostic studies during service week
Additional Responsibilities:
Supervision of Physician Assistants (active supervising license required)
Beeper on-call responsibilities with 30-minute response time
Candidate Requirements
MD or DO degree required
Board Certification in Cardiology (Certified minimum)
Fellowship in Cardiology required
Active Louisiana medical license required
Active supervising license required for Physician Assistant supervision
ACLS certification required
LA Patient Care Fund coverage required (obtained during credentialing)
Clean background check and no open or pending malpractice claims
Current CV/Resume required for application
Estimated credentialing time: 120 days
