Locum Non Invasive Cardiologist needed in San Francisco, CA - $250/hr to $280/hr

Job Description – Non-Invasive Cardiologist (Echo Reading)

Specialty: Cardiology – Non-Invasive (Echo Reading)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 6 months (option to extend)
Employment Type: Locum Tenens

Schedule & Coverage

• Shift Type: 5x8s, Monday–Friday

• Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Call: None

• Weekends: None

• Coverage Expectation: At least 1–2 weeks per month, ideally more

Work Details

• Setting: Inpatient + Outpatient (Academic/Teaching Hospital)

• Patient Load: ~25–30 echos/day

• Procedures Required:

  • TTE (Transthoracic Echo)

  • TEE (Transesophageal Echo)

• Skills Preferred:

  • Advanced Echocardiography Level III certification

  • Teaching experience (strongly preferred)

  • Experience with diverse patient populations

  • Bilingual a plus

• Support Staff: Echo techs on site, interventional cardiologist on call, inpatient cardiology attending available by phone

• Department:

  • Level 1 Trauma Center

  • Handles emergent, high-acuity, and routine echo cases

  • Academic focus – teaching and research opportunities

EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Board Certification: BC or BE in Cardiovascular Disease

• License: Active CA license (required)

• DEA: CA DEA with Schedule II required

• Certifications: BLS (required), Advanced Echocardiography Level III preferred

• Experience:

  • Must have recent high-volume echo reading experience

  • Teaching experience strongly preferred

  • Willing to consider new grads

Credentialing & Interview Process

• Credentialing Timeframe: 60–90 days (emergency privileges possible in ~30 days for clean files)
