Job description

I’m working with a growing cardiovascular program seeking a high-volume, complex Interventional Cardiologist who is interested in both advanced clinical practice and long-term program development. This opportunity is well-suited for a technically strong physician who thrives in a busy, collaborative environment.

Clinical Scope & Case Mix

  • Complex coronary interventions, including:
    • Left main PCI
    • Bifurcation lesions (including two-stent strategies)
    • Heavily calcified lesions requiring atherectomy
    • Routine use of intracoronary imaging (IVUS required; OCT a plus)
    • Hemodynamic support when appropriate
  • CTO experience preferred but not required; willingness to expand skillset is key
  • Strong interest or experience in peripheral/endovascular interventions:
    • Iliac and femoropopliteal disease
    • Tibial/BTK disease and limb salvage preferred
  • Opportunity to grow into advanced peripheral, venous, or structural work as the program evolves

Practice Environment & Team Culture

  • Highly collaborative, multidisciplinary setting including:
    • Cardiothoracic surgery
    • Electrophysiology
    • Vascular surgery
    • Hospitalists, intensivists, and APPs
  • Shared call responsibility and collegial coverage model
  • Opportunity to mentor APPs and junior physicians
  • Emphasis on clear communication with referring providers and hospital leadership

Facilities & Technology

  • Modern cath labs with strong procedural support
  • Proficiency expected with:
    • IVUS
    • Atherectomy platforms (rotational/orbital; IVL a plus)
    • Physiologic lesion assessment (iFR/FFR)
  • Openness to adopting new technologies and helping standardize best practices
  • Interest in imaging-guided PCI, appropriate case selection, and outcomes tracking

Volume & Productivity

  • Busy cath lab and clinic environment
  • Ability to manage:
    • Full clinic days
    • High procedural volumes
  • Productivity-oriented while maintaining quality and efficiency
  • Strong documentation and effective utilization of APP support
  • Expected to ramp up and contribute significantly within 6–12 months

Professional Development

  • Support for continued skill development, including:
    • Advanced peripheral interventions
    • CTO or complex coronary techniques
  • Opportunities for proctored cases and industry or academic training
  • Research not required, but intellectual curiosity and quality improvement involvement are valued

Lifestyle & Location

  • Community-based practice in central North Carolina offering:
    • Lower cost of living and affordable housing compared to major metro areas
    • Family-friendly communities with access to outdoor recreation
    • Convenient proximity to Raleigh, NC, including its dining, cultural amenities, and international airport
    • Easy access to academic centers while maintaining a community-focused practice environment
  • Predictable scheduling supported by efficient infrastructure
  • Shared STEMI and inpatient call in a balanced model

Compensation

  • Competitive salary guarantee transitioning to productivity-based compensation
  • Compensation range approximately $600,000–$700,000, depending on experience
  • RVU or hybrid compensation models
  • Incentives aligned with long-term program growth

Vision & Program Growth

  • Seeking a physician who wants to help build—not just fill a role
  • Interest in:
    • Expanding complex coronary and peripheral services
    • Developing referral relationships
    • Participating in strategic planning with hospital leadership
