A leading health system in Petoskey, Michigan, is actively seeking a Board-Certified Interventional Cardiologist for a long-term locum tenens position. This role involves 24-hour on-site call coverage, providing comprehensive interventional and general cardiology services. The ideal candidate will be confident in handling urgent/emergent cases, cardiac catheterizations, and inpatient cardiac care in a hospital-based environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform urgent and emergent cardiac catheterizations and PCI-related procedures.
- Manage general cardiology cases (CHF, arrhythmias, ACS, post-PCI care).
- Round daily on hospitalized cardiology patients during call shifts.
- Supervise and collaborate with an on-site Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
- Respond to in-hospital cardiac codes and emergencies in coordination with hospitalist and anesthesia teams.
- Communicate with referring facilities as needed for patient transfers.
- Document care accurately in the Cerner EHR system.
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Medical License in good standing โ Required
- Must reside in Michigan or nearby states โ Required
- Clean professional background (for expedited credentialing) โ Required
- Valid DEA license โ verbal confirmation required at time of name clear
- Availability for scheduled 2026 dates โ Required
Working Hours
6:00 AM start to 6:00 AM end on the following dates:
January 9โ12, 2026
February 6โ9, 2026
March 20โ23, 2026
April 10โ13, 2026
May 8โ11, 2026
June 12โ15, 2026
Must remain physically present at the hospital during each 24-hour shift.
Skills
Strong clinical decision-making in high-pressure, acute care settings
Effective inpatient care coordination and documentation
Comfortable with general cardiology patient management
Familiarity with Cerner EHR or ability to adapt quickly
Strong communication and collaboration with APPs, hospitalists, and anesthesia teams
