Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Join a highly regarded cardiovascular program in Louisiana's capital city, offering high surgical volumes, advanced technology, and a collaborative, multidisciplinary care environment. This position plays a key role within a regional referral center featuring a modern Heart & Vascular Institute, access to complex surgical cases, and comprehensive ECMO services. Ideally a start date until summer of 2027.

Practice Overview

  • You'll join a team of 5 CT surgeons supported by 7 APPs, 6 perfusionists, and cardiac-trained anesthesiologists
  • Full breadth of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including TAVR, MitraClip, ECMO, and aortic cases
  • Weekly rotation with the Structural Heart team; shared case volume and active thoracic referrals
  • Dedicated 24-bed Open Heart Unit co-located with Cardiac ICU for continuity of care


Schedule

  • Monday-Friday schedule with 4 OR days and 1 clinic day (flexible during ramp-up)
  • Call rotation is 1:4; evenly distributed cases among surgeons
  • Weekly multidisciplinary cath conference for collaborative planning
  • Strong referral base from 3 cardiology teams (2 private, 1 hospital-employed)


Compensation & Benefits

  • $800,000 initial salary guarantee
  • $50,000 sign-on bonus and $10,000 relocation allowance
  • PSLF-eligible site with paid malpractice and CME support

Candidate Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Open to new grads and experienced surgeons; leadership roles available
  • H1B and J1 visa candidates considered
  • Must be comfortable in a high-volume, multidisciplinary environment
