Cardiology / Electrophysiology Physician (MD/DO) – Job Description

Position Summary
The Cardiology / Electrophysiology (EP) Physician provides specialized care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and other complex cardiovascular conditions. This role involves outpatient and inpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and management, including performing or overseeing electrophysiology procedures, device management, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias, conduction disorders, and other cardiovascular conditions

  • Perform and interpret electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, device implantations (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT), and device follow-ups

  • Manage complex cardiovascular patients both inpatient and outpatient

  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests including EKGs, echocardiograms, Holter/event monitors, and advanced imaging

  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, including pharmacologic and interventional therapies

  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, procedures, medications, and lifestyle modification

  • Collaborate with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals

  • Document patient encounters, procedures, and follow-up care accurately and timely in the medical record

  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiatives

  • Adhere to clinical guidelines, hospital policies, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship

  • Completion of Electrophysiology fellowship

  • Board eligible or board certified in Cardiology and Electrophysiology

  • Active state medical license or eligibility for licensure

  • Strong procedural skills, clinical judgment, and communication abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Work Environment

  • Outpatient cardiology clinics, procedural labs, and inpatient hospital units

  • Schedule may include procedural blocks, inpatient rounding, and on-call responsibilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures

  • Manual dexterity for electrophysiology procedures and device management

  • Ability to move throughout clinical, procedural, and inpatient settings
