The Department of Surgery and Division of General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a fellowship-trained minimally invasive surgeon specializing in both bariatric surgery and general surgery to join our faculty within the Division of General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center working at one of our regional hospital centers.

The position will be primarily at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has a storied history of bariatric and metabolic surgery that has evolved over the last 4 decades, and a tradition of excellent general surgery care that dates back even father. Our weight loss centers has maintained accreditation as a Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualification as defined by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Quality Improvement Project. We have taken our model for success and created centers of excellence in both medical and surgical weight loss at two of our regional hospital centers. This position is for the creation of a center of excellence at a third regional hospital, Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Horton Hospital, located in Tullahoma Tennessee.

This regional Weight Loss Center will work with the flagship program to build a robust, multidisciplinary clinic that provide patients with comprehensive tools for their weight loss journey. This dedicated center will offer:

· Fellowship Trained Bariatric Surgeons

· Experienced Licensed Clinical Social Workers

· Board Certified Obesity Medicine Specialists

· Endocrinologists

· Dietitians specialized in Obesity and Bariatric Surgery

· Exercise Physiologists

In addition to the weight loss program, the candidate will be expected to establish a general surgery program at the regional hospital, caring for and treating patients with multiple conditions of the GI tract, biliary system, and hernias.

Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is just over an hour southeast of Nashville and an hour west of Chattanooga. It is a 75 bed/7 OR facility located in a city of over 20,000 that is known for its aerospace industry, Tennessee whisky distilleries, and outdoor recreations activity. It is a vibrant city with excellent boating, hiking and golf and a great place to raise a family.

Eligible candidates must be board certified in surgery, able to obtain and maintain a Tennessee Medical License and have completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery and/or Bariatric Surgery fellowship with experience satisfying requirements to obtain the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship Training Certificate. Applicants should have a strong commitment to patient care, education, and advancing the field of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
