LOCATION:
Phoenix, Arizona

*The organization has many clinics and other facilities throughout Phoenix and will discuss available sites early in the interview process to ensure a mutually-agreeable work location.*

COMPANY PROFILE:
This non-profit, multi-speciality group medical practice has been operating in the greater Phoenix area since the early 1990s and, today, boasts a provider staff of more than 650 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and more, who together offer more than 25 specialty and subspecialty services. Dedicated not only to providing the highest quality of patient care, they maintain a balanced approach to their service that also emphasizes education, research, and community engagement. They are a sizable organization, including a large hospital, behavioral health centers, and many outpatient centers.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is a CRNA-based model in which the anesthesiologist is primarily performing supervision over CRNAs. Physicians rarely have 1-on-1 patient encounters and all OB call is assigned to CRNAs.

The anesthesiologist will supervise 3 to 4 CRNAs per shift.

In addition to CRNA supervision, the anesthesiologist will be present for various parts of the patient encounter, including induction and wake-up.

The organization generates 11,000 anesthesia encounters per year and the practice includes:

- labor and delivery
- neonatal and general pediatric surgery
- general surgery
- robotic surgery
- neurosurgery
- ENT
- plastics
- burn
- Level I trauma
- orthopedics
- podiatric surgery
- special procedures outside the OR

This medical center currently hosts 10 residency programs. They are not officially tied to a medical school, but the new anesthesiologist will sometimes work with residents moving through the hospital and be involved with aspects of teaching.

Daily patient volume varies and physicians are free to leave early if there is no activity on their shift. When patient census is low, physicians often only work 6 to 7 hours of their shift.

Approximately 50% of the patient base is Spanish-speaking and interpreters are provided when needed.

The organization uses the Epic EHR in all locations.

The on-call schedule involves 4 to 5 nights per month (in-house).

REQUIREMENTS:
- Arizona medical license
- DEA
- Board Certification or Eligibility, Anesthesiology
- if Board Eligible, must become Certified within 5 years of program completion
- no experience required; new graduates are welcome to apply
- Spanish language skills preferred, not required
- willingness and ability to teach, due to the presence of resident physicians
