The Clinical Director of the Department of Anesthesiology will report to the Director and/or Chairman of the Anesthesiology Department.
- Inside the Operating Room
- Will enforce Department’s policies and procedures
- Will be the administrative physician in-Charge of the floor when assigned.
- Coordinate and supervise daily scheduling of faculty, residents, CRNA’s.
- Coordinate personnel (i.e., Faculty, Residents, CRNA’s) on a daily basis. The Clinical Director can recommend to the Vice Chairman of Clinical Affairs that faculty and resident non-clinical time be taken to meet clinical duties.
- Supervise the Equipment Coordinator in maintaining, procuring and updating anesthesia equipment (e.g., monitors, drugs, machines, supplies, etc.)
- Work closely with the OR nursing supervisor and administrator to facilitate scheduling and to maximize the utilization of anesthesia personnel and to enforce OR Committee rules and regulations.
- Represent faculty concerns to the Director and Chairman.
- Outside the Operating Room
- Provide information to the Vice Chairman of Clinical Affairs concerning the number of faculty, resident, nurse anesthetist personnel required to meet clinical demands
- Be responsible for monitoring the satisfactory performance of faculty, residents, nurse anesthetists and medical students’ clinical and academic duties and institute disciplinary measures when appropriate.
