Job description LOCUM TENENS – ANESTHESIOLOGY (FLOAT POOL) QUICK HITS (KEY DETAILS)
  • Location: Burlingame, South Carolina
  • Start Date: 06/15/2026
  • Contract Length: 26+ weeks
  • Schedule: No fixed shift lengths (no set 8s/10s)
  • Coverage Need: Full-time preferred; minimum 2 weeks/month
  • Setting: Hospital + ambulatory surgery centers (float role)
  • Case Mix: Inpatient + outpatient (no outpatient-only option)
AVAILABILITY / SCHEDULE
  • No fixed daily shift structure
  • Must be flexible to float between:
    • High acuity inpatient facilities
    • Ambulatory surgery centers
  • Must cover both inpatient and outpatient cases
CLINICAL SCOPE
  • General OR cases
  • Occasional regional anesthesia cases
  • No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases
  • Patient Population: Adults and adolescents (13+)
  • Practice Model:
    • Primarily solo work in OR
    • Occasional supervision of CRNAs
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum 2+ years anesthesiology experience
  • Recent experience in tertiary care centers required
  • Recent (last 2–3 years) mix of:
    • Inpatient surgical cases
    • Outpatient surgical cases
  • High acuity experience (ASA 3+) preferred
  • Must be comfortable working independently
  • Chronic pain–heavy backgrounds not ideal
SKILLS
  • Regional anesthesia: Preferred (not required)
  • Ability to handle varied acuity levels
  • Comfortable floating across multiple sites
REQUIREMENTS (LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)
  • Board Certified (or truly Board Eligible if fellowship trained)
  • Active California License required
  • DEA (California, Schedule II required)
  • BLS (AHA) – Required
  • ACLS (AHA) – Preferred
CREDENTIALING / SYSTEMS
  • EMR: EPIC (required experience)
PRACTICE SETTING
  • Hospital-based
  • Float pool across sister facilities
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Flexible and comfortable with floating between sites
  • Strong recent inpatient + outpatient case mix
  • Comfortable working solo with occasional CRNA oversight
  • Open to high acuity cases
