General Anesthesiologist Job Details

• Position Type: Locum tenens (travel anesthesiologist contract)
• Location: On-site in Norfolk, VA (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Duration: 17 weeks (January 5, 2026 – May 2, 2026)
• Shifts per Week: 5
• Shift Duration: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts
• Total Hours per Week: 36
• Call Schedule: Weeknight and/or weekend call required (1:10 rotation)

General Anesthesiologist Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Virginia medical license
• Board Certification in Anesthesiology
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical anesthesia experience
• Proficiency in general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, and regional anesthesia techniques
• Experience with adult anesthesia cases required; pediatric anesthesia experience preferred
• Comfortable with orthopedic, spine, vascular, maternity, and general surgery cases
• Skilled in ventilation management and placement of central and arterial lines

General Anesthesiologist Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for general, orthopedic, spine, vascular, maternity, and neurosurgical procedures
• Deliver anesthesia services to adult patients (required) and pediatric patients (preferred)
• Perform spinal, epidural, and regional anesthesia as indicated
• Participate in a 1:10 weeknight/weekend call rotation
• Manage ventilation and perform insertion of central and arterial lines
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a Magnet-recognized hospital for nursing excellence
