Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - Anesthesiology in Bismarck, ND

This role is essential for providing high-quality anesthesia care within a medical direction practice model, supporting a diverse patient population from pediatric to elderly. In this role, you will be responsible for regional anesthesia, labor and delivery coverage, and all cardiac cases. You will work within a medical direction model, overseeing no more than 1:4 CRNA oversight, and perform common regional blocks such as adductor, interscalene, popliteal, and supraclavicular. The setting includes both in-house (restricted C1 call) and home call (unrestricted C2 call), with shifts typically lasting 16 hours on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends. You will contribute to a multidisciplinary team, including CRNA and OR staff, supporting a variety of procedures across multiple specialties.

Required Skills:
  • Valid medical license in North Dakota
  • Board-certified or eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Proven experience with regional anesthesia techniques
  • Ability to manage a broad spectrum of anesthesia cases, including cardiac and obstetric procedures
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia protocols and patient safety standards
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system
  • Previous locum or temporary anesthesia coverage experience
  • Familiarity with regional blocks for orthopedics, labor, and delivery
  • Knowledge of hospital-based anesthesia practices and procedures

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Minimum of 2 years of anesthesia practice post-residency
  • Prior experience working in hospital or trauma centers, especially with cardiac and obstetric cases

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to start by January 17, 2026, with credentialing completed within 90 days
  • Clear, complete medical records with no gaps over 60 days and three professional references
  • Credentialing documentation including CV in chronological order
  • Willingness to work one week per month starting in April 2026, with potential to add call coverage once familiar with the facility
  • Travel and lodging arrangements in accordance with Commonspirit contract policies
  • Active DEA and DEA registration for controlled substances
  • Compliance with all credentialing and hospital policies, including E-Verify
