Anesthesiologist – Acute Care Hospital (Care Team Model)
Target Start Date: February 16, 2026
Contract Length: 6-month locum tenens assignment (potential extension)
Openings: 1 anesthesiologist
Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours only (no call)
Shift Structure:
Day shifts, typically 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Monday–Friday, full-time schedule
8-, 10-, and 12-hour anesthesia shifts available
Weekend coverage may be requested depending on staffing
No call required
EMR: Cerner + AIMS
Supervision Model: Care Team Model (MD supervising CRNAs; MDs may perform their own cases if preferred)
Practice Details
Setting: Acute care hospital anesthesia department
Trauma Level: Adult Level II/III/IV
Patient Population: Primarily adult; minimal pediatrics
Case Mix Includes:
Obstetrics
Trauma
Stroke center cases
Vascular
Neurosurgery / spine
Urology
Orthopedics
General surgery
Endoscopy
Robotics
GYN
Very limited pediatrics
Not Included:
Craniotomies
Transplants
Dedicated trauma and cardiac cases (covered by separate teams)
Procedural Requirements:
Ability to perform peripheral nerve blocks
Comfortable supervising CRNAs in a 1:3 or 1:4 model
Ability to perform own cases when needed
Support:
CRNAs
Anesthesia techs
Full perioperative support staff
Additional Notes:
High-volume environment:
10–15 cardiovascular cases per day
3,500–4,000 general cases per month
Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days
Requirements
Board-certified or board-eligible anesthesiologist
Active North Carolina license required
DEA required
Ability to perform peripheral nerve blocks
Experience supervising CRNAs in a care-team model
Experience with high-acuity hospital anesthesia
COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Location
