Anesthesiologist Requirements

• Education: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
• Residency: Completion of an approved Anesthesiology residency
• Licensure: Active New York physician license required (candidates needing to obtain a state license will not be considered)
• Board Certification: Not required
• Additional: ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable)

Key Responsibilities – General Anesthesia & Perioperative Care

• Assist in directing and coordinating activities within the anesthesia department
• Provide medical management for patients receiving anesthesia for surgical and procedural care
• Perform pre-anesthesia assessments and develop individualized anesthetic plans
• Obtain and/or verify informed consent; discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients
• Induce, maintain, and manage emergence from anesthesia
• Continuously monitor physiologic status and respond to changes with appropriate clinical interventions
• Work within the anesthesia care team model, including supervising CRNAs (3:1) and performing your own cases as needed
