Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Pathology Assistant for locum tenens coverage in Tacoma, Washington (WA). Starting as soon as possible, this role offers ongoing work with a competitive market rate and benefits.
Pathology Assistant Role:
Location:: Tacoma, Washington
Contract Details:
- Minimum term through January 12, 2026 - May 1, 2026
- Potential for extensions or permanent placement
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
- Two start times: 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM
- No call
Overview:
We are seeking four experienced Pathology Assistants to provide anatomic pathology services under the supervision of an anatomic pathologist. This role involves gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, postmortem support, and additional responsibilities such as biobanking and education.
General Description:
- Perform gross description, preparation, and dissection of surgical specimens
- Assist with preparations for postmortem examinations
- Provide instruction in anatomy, physiology, and gross pathology
- Conduct anatomical photography
- Apply standard autopsy techniques
- Participate in ongoing research and biobanking activities
- May include administrative, supervisory, and teaching duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- ASCP certification required
- Knowledge of specimen requirements, medical terminology (Histology and Cytology), and safety precautions for biohazards
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems and computer systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
