Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform tests and examine patients' eyes and vision, evaluating each component
- Analyze and listen to patients' descriptions of symptoms to diagnose eye disorders, diseases, or injuries
- Examine patients for symptoms indicative of organic or congenital ocular disorders and determine the nature and extent of the disorder or injury
- Conduct various tests to determine vision loss
- Prescribe and administer medications and perform procedures, as indicated
- Direct remedial activities to aid in regaining vision or utilizing remaining sight, including writing prescriptions for corrective glasses and instructing patients in eye exercises
- Inform patients about diagnoses and treatment options to ensure understanding and informed decision-making
- Complete accurate documentation of ocular and vision diagnoses and treatments according to QI Standards and standards of care
Additional Information
- Wisconsin optometry license required
- Board certification in Optometry required
- IHS/FQHC experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience preferred
