Job description
We are seeking 1–2 experienced Locum Tenens Anesthesiologists to join a well-established hospital team in Iowa, starting January or February 2026. The facility offers a full-time opportunity but is also open to candidates available at least two weeks per month. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-volume, team-oriented setting with flexible scheduling and full travel reimbursement.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in obstetric anesthesia, including TOLAC cases
Manage pediatric anesthesia cases (mainly tonsils and adenoids)
Perform conscious sedation
Take part in a rotating call schedule, including night and weekend coverage
Collaborate within a team of 6 physicians and 2 CRNAs
Supervise CRNAs as needed (some supervision involved)
Qualifications
Active Iowa medical license or IMLC with proof of Letter of Qualification – Required
ACLS Certification – Required (can be obtained during credentialing)
COVID-19 vaccination – Required
Clean malpractice history with no settled or pending cases – Required
Must be able to commit to at least 2 weeks per month of coverage
Comfortable taking call and covering weekend shifts as needed
Working Hours
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Call: Night call every 3–4 days, weekend call rotation (1st, 2nd, 3rd call)
Weekends: On-call only; 1st call gets called in approximately 75% of the time
No clinic duties required
Skills
Comfortable performing conscious sedation
Familiarity with EPIC EMR (go-live expected May 2025)
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work efficiently in a 13-OR environment with 30–50 cases per day across the department
