Locum Anesthesiologist Needed - VA - Up to 350/hr

📍 Healthcare System | Full-Time | Multi-Site Coverage

🔍 Overview:

Join a high-performing anesthesia team covering three dynamic locations in the Fredericksburg, VA area.

📅 Schedule & Expectations:

• 📌 Full-Time Options: 50 hrs/week (M–F)

• 🕒 Weekend availability preferred (12-hour shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a)

• 🔁 Float between:

  • Hospital (Level II Trauma)

  • Hospital

  • Ambulatory Surgery Center

🏥 Practice Model & Environment:

• Medical Direction model (CRNAs practice under anesthesiologist supervision)

• Anesthesiologist ratio: 1 MD : 3 CRNAs

• CRNAs: Limited regional scope (Spinals & Epidurals only); no authority to perform blocks

• Anesthesiologists: Should be able to do blocks (supraclavicular, popliteal, etc.)
  ➤ Not a dealbreaker if unable to perform blocks

• MDs MUST be willing to take solo cases

• EMR: Epic

🏨 Site Breakdown:

🌟 Hospital (Level II Trauma Center)

• 16 ORs | 2 OB Suites | 8 Endo Suites | Cath Holding | IR | ED

• 24/7 coverage

• 1 MDA in-house, 1 MDA Cardiac on-call daily

• Staffing: 2 CRNAs in-house + 1 CRNA back-up call + 1 Cardiac CRNA call

• Case Types: Open hearts, organ harvests (no transplants), healthy peds, ortho, thoracic, OB, endo, trauma

🏥 Hospital

• Smaller community hospital, not trauma-designated

• 6 ORs | 1 OB | 1 Endo

• Heavy OB volume

• Critical cases referred to Mary Washington

• Staffing: 2 MDs, 6 CRNAs (24-hr in-house); no backup call

🏥 Ambulatory Surgery Center

• Outpatient center, adjacent to main hospital

• M–F only; no weekends

• 6 ORs

• Case Types: Ortho, healthy peds (dental, ENT), bread & butter

• MDs must be able to do blocks at this site

• Staffing: 2 MDs, 6 CRNAs

• Fast-turnaround environment

👨‍⚕️ Who We’re Looking For:

• ✅ Board Certified Anesthesiologist

• ✅ Willing to do own cases solo

• ✅ Comfortable supervising CRNAs

• ✅ Able to float across multiple sites

• ✅ Skilled in regional blocks (preferred, required at ASC)

• ✅ Active Virginia medical license (or willing to obtain)

📝 Credentialing Timeframe:

• 📅 90–120 days

• Credentialing covers all three sites regardless of work location
