Position Overview
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained Acute Pain Anesthesiologist in Georgia to join a robust academic anesthesia program. This position offers a high-volume regional anesthesia practice (2,500+ blocks annually) with a balanced mix of acute pain service (APS) and general anesthesia.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical
- Provide advanced regional anesthesia and acute pain management for surgical and trauma patients across Georgia.
- Perform a wide range of blocks including interscalene, supraclavicular, femoral/adductor canal, sciatic, TAP, spinal, and epidural anesthesia
- Implement multimodal analgesia protocols across orthopedic, trauma, general surgery, and oncology cases.
- Participate in APS coverage ~1 week per month (AM: blocks, PM: general OR).
- Provide general OR anesthesia coverage when not on APS.
- Support program growth with upcoming hospital & ASC expansion (opening 2026 in Georgia).
Teaching & Mentorship
- Supervise residents and medical students in block techniques and perioperative care.
- Lead simulation sessions, lectures, and skills development.
- Mentor junior faculty and foster regional anesthesia research.
Program Development
- Expand APS in alignment with growing surgical volumes.
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to enhance perioperative pain protocols.
- Contribute to quality improvement and efficiency initiatives.
Schedule & Call
- Day shifts: 7 AM - 5 PM
- APS coverage: ~1 week/month
- General OR coverage otherwise
- Call: ~7 per month (12-hour in-house backup shifts)
- Additional shifts compensated
- Post-call recovery days provided

- APS Team: 6 physicians (3 fellowship-trained)

Qualifications
Required:
- ABA Board Certification/Eligibility
- Fellowship training in Acute Pain / Regional Anesthesia
Preferred:
- Academic teaching experience
- QI or research in regional anesthesia/APS
- Versatility across multiple block techniques
Compensation & Benefits
- Minimum Base Salary: $500,000 + incentive bonus
- $40,000 sign-on bonus + $10,000 relocation allowance
- 56 paid days off annually: 21 vacation, 12 sick, 10 CME, 13 holidays
