Position Overview
A leading academic medical center in Georgia is seeking a fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologist to serve as Medical Director of Labor & Delivery Anesthesia Services. This role combines hands-on clinical care with program leadership, giving you the opportunity to guide a high-volume obstetric anesthesia service within a Level 1 Trauma Center.
As Medical Director, you'll oversee anesthesia operations for more than 2,500 annual deliveries, direct care for high-risk maternal populations, and collaborate with OB-GYN, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and nursing leadership. You'll also play a pivotal role in quality improvement, education, and future fellowship development.
Clinical & Leadership Scope
- Lead all anesthesia services for Labor & Delivery
- Oversee 2,500+ annual deliveries and complex obstetric cases
- Provide anesthesia for labor epidurals, C-sections, and surgical procedures
- Participate in general anesthesia cases through the adult call pool
- Shape strategic direction of obstetric anesthesia service line
Program Development & Academic Opportunities
- Lead quality initiatives, readiness drills, and safety projects
- Develop clinical guidelines and best practice protocols
- Teach anesthesiology residents, CRNAs, and medical students
- Mentor junior faculty and advance academic program growth
- Future involvement in OB fellowship development
Schedule & Call
- Routine shifts: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Call ~7 shifts/month, including 12-hour weekday and weekend blocks
- Post-call recovery: 2 days off after weekday call; 3 days after weekend call
- Balanced mix of OB and general anesthesia coverage

Compensation & Benefits
- Minimum Base Salary: $520,000 + incentive bonus
- $40,000 sign-on bonus + $10,000 relocation allowance
- 56 paid days off annually: 21 vacation, 12 sick, 10 CME, 13 holidays
- CME allowance: $5,000

Qualifications
Required:
- ABA board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology
- Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesia
- Minimum academic rank: Associate Professor
- Active or eligible Georgia medical license
- ACLS certification; ability to obtain ATLS, FCCS, and TTE
Preferred:
- Leadership experience in academic or clinical practice
- Expertise in managing high-risk obstetric populations
- Strong record in teaching, mentorship, and quality improvement
